The amount of rainfall and the level of underground water set the rhythm and pace of life in rural areas. Rain has stopped, but there's still plenty of moisture in the soil, so the scenery is mostly green. In two months, the hills will have turned brown and so will the entire valley because of harvesting and tilling. Rain returns in April and the colors will quickly change back of many shades of green.Global warming has not spared this area of western Uthaitani province where Banrai is located. From my own observations, winter weather is not nearly as cold as it used to be. I first came here about ten years ago and well remember how cold it was, especially early in the morning. The house I bought came with a fireplace!
