Water lillies make easy subjects for taking pictures. It's like taking pictures of newborn babies; they don't know how not to be cute and lovely.
But, of course, I'm no Claude Monet. He must have seen surface water in more or less the same hue as in this photo, but he took his brush, dipped it in deep blue, green, and purple paint, and created a vibrant surface for his water lillies to dance on. I merely record. He creates.
