I'm just posing, of course. The real mahout is down on the ground taking my picture. But what would I do if the elephant wildly took off? Lucky for me, she was as gentle and patient as can be.
It's something I reflect on today, my 66th birthday, not on riding elephants, but rather how fortunate I've been and how grateful I am for the gentle and patient souls I've come across in my life. It's grace, right?
