Unchain My Heart by Joe Cocker.
Joe Cocker was on the stage at Woodstock in 1969, but I haven't paid much attention to his music until now.
The few times that I've noticed him over the years, I felt he was not a great singer, but now I appreciate his raw talent and am relieved that he's no longer stoned, or acting like it, when he performs.
Evidently a person who is not naturally subtle and nuanced, Cocker's career low point was probably when he sang, "Let's Get Stoned". To his great credit, however, he survived and changed profoundly in style and substance to give us great renditions of "With a Little Help from My Friends," "You Are So Beautiful," "Unchain My Heart," and many other classics.
