Trasimeno lake in the Umbria region has a circumference of around 60 kilometers, making it Italy's fourth largest lake. It is a recreation paradise and the entire area around it has been designated to meet exceptionally high environmental quality standards.
There are beautiful biking and hiking trails. Non-polluting water sport activities are allowed (sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, rowing).
Two sailing schools use the lake for classroom, and so I will definitely return to Umbria to enroll in a few courses.
As if the above weren't wonderful enough, many midieval towns and cities are located in the area, some with soaring towers and castles that overlook the lake.
